Electrical Systems :

Your vehicle's electrical system is one of the key components that keeps your car moving. At Send A Friend we offer a wealth of expertise in maintiaing your vehicle's electrical system and it's three main components: the alternator, the starter, and the battery.

  • The Alternator

  • Your vehicle's alternator is an important part of your car's electrical system. Alternators are used in automobiles to charge the battery and to power a car's electric system when its engine is running. Failure with your vehicle's alternator can cause erratic operation with other components in your car. It is important to have your alternator checked regularly by the technicians at Send A Friend. When an alternator fails your car's battery takes over, draining the energy from the battery and causing it to no longer function properly as well. It’s a good idea to have the alternator’s drive belt checked at every oil change. A loose belt can reduce alternator output and run down your battery.

  • The Starter

  • Your vehicle's starter works differently than your alternator. The starter is what cranks the engine, thus starting your vehicle. If you try to start your vehicle and the engine turns too slowly, or not at all, the starter or starter solenoid may need to be replaced. Starter problems may be due to electrical/mechanical failure or outright breakage.

  • The Battery

  • Car batteries should be checked at least every two years. Our trained mechanics check your battery for electrolyte level or indicator eye, terminal condition, cleanliness and hold down support. Send A Friend can check your battery and charging system, and if needed, provide you with many sizes and types of replacement batteries. Our electrical system expertise doesn’t begin and end with your car’s battery. We have certified technicians who can service most starters and alternators as well. We’ll check your cable connections, mounting bolts and brackets, drive belt and electrical connections, keeping the entire nerve center of your automobile working in perfect order.
