Fluid Checks and Replacement :

  • Oil Changes

  • One of the key procedures to keeping a vehicle properly maintained are regularly schedules oil changes. Typically this is done every three months or 3,000 miles. Failure to do so will cause dirt and metal filings build up in your car's oil and it becomes less able to provide proper lubrication. With time your oil will degrade, causing viscosity to increase, further limiting its ability to lubricate the engine. At Send A Friend, we provide oil changes for all makes and models of vehicles and without an appointment.

  • Coolant/Anitfreze

  • Don't let the name antifreeze fool you. It does more than protect your engine from freezing and the winter elements, it also keeps your engine cool and protects it from overheating. It's very important to regularly check the level of antifreeze in your vehicle since coolant failrures and overheating are a very common cause of engine breakdowns. Send A Friend will check your coolant system-such as your radiator and hoses for leaks, cracks, and other signs of wear. We can also flush your vehicle's coolant system and refill it with coolant. This procedure is reccommended as preventative maintenance, and should be performed once every two years or 24,000 miles.

  • Transmission Fluid

  • It's important to regularly check the transmission fluid level between service intervals. Letting your car run low on transmission fluid can cause the transmission to shift improperly — or not at all. It also can harm the internal parts of your transmission, which will not be properly lubricated. Unfortunately, you may not hear any noises or have other clues that your transmission is low on fluid, until it's too late. So it's important to get it checked.

Most manufacturers recommend that manual transmission fluid be changed every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. The service interval for an automatic transmission is every 60,000-80,000 miles.

  • Brake Fluid

  • Brake fluid attracts moisture, and this moisture can rust the insides of the brake system. On ABS brake systems of today, the rust and other debris that accumulates in the fluid can do lots of internal damage, and can be very costly. Brake fluid can also break down over time from excess heat that is created from within the brake system. Since the above can happen, we reccommend you periodically have a hydraulic system flush. Consult your owner's manual for specific service information.
